What makes this shampoo perfect for puppies?

Clinically tested to be hypoallergenic
Puppies get into everything, which means more baths. Our shampoo is clinically tested to be hypoallergenic so you can bathe your puppy as often as needed without worrying about drying out or irritating their delicate skin.

Tearless formula
Our tearless formula means even if soap gets in your squirmy puppy’s eyes, it won't sting or burn. Less stress for them, less anxiety for you, and a better bath experience all around.

Soothing natural ingredients
Your puppy's skin is delicate and still developing. Oat extract, aloe, coconut oil, and shea butter naturally soothe, moisturize, and protect sensitive skin while gently cleaning. Plus, we don’t use harsh sulfates or chemicals that strip natural oils and cause dryness.

Warm vanilla scent
Adult dog shampoos often have strong fragrances that can overwhelm a puppy's sensitive nose. Our subtle warm vanilla scent is gentle enough for them while still leaving your pup smelling fresh and clean.

Tested by puppy parents through our PetParent Lab
Before any Pet Life Unlimited product finds its way to the shelf, it's tested and verified by real dog parents in their own homes. The puppy parents we talked to told us that their puppy's skin has unique needs, which led us to create this product.

How to use

With our grooming products, bath time doesn't have to be a battle. Here's how to make it easier:

Prep your puppy
Brush out any tangles first. Use lukewarm water (not hot) and get your puppy thoroughly wet before applying shampoo. Talk to them in a calm, reassuring voice throughout.

Apply and lather
Apply shampoo to your hands and work it into a gentle lather before massaging into your puppy’s skin and fur from neck to tail.

Gently wash the face
Use a small amount on their face with a wet washcloth, being careful around eyes and ears. The tearless formula means if some gets in their eyes, it won't sting, but gentle is always better.

Rinse thoroughly
Give the pup a good rinse to remove shampoo. Make sure to keep rinsing until the water runs clear.

Dry and reward
Towel dry gently (or use a low-heat dryer if your puppy tolerates it). Give lots of praise and treats. Positive associations now mean easier baths later.

Pro tip: Don't bathe puppies too frequently. Once every 3-4 weeks is usually plenty (unless they get really messy). Between baths, use our Puppy's First Grooming Wipes for quick cleanups.

Our Puppy-Safe Standards

Our puppy products were developed for, but never tested on, puppies. And we hold ourselves to higher standards because your puppy can't tell you when something's wrong.

Clinically tested hypoallergenic and gentle
Made without parabens, sulfates, phthalates or dyes, and we test specifically with puppies (not just adult dogs) to ensure our shampoo is gentle on developing skin and won't cause irritation or allergic reactions.

Ingredient and material transparency
We list every ingredient on our packaging, even though most pet products don't.

Made in the USA
We make our products in the USA both for quality control and to support American businesses.

FAQ

Do I need special shampoo for a puppy?
Adult dog shampoos can be too harsh for puppies, but our shampoo is uniquely formulated for growing pups. It’s a tearless formula that won't irritate their eyes and contains soothing oat extract, aloe, coconut oil, and shea butter for sensitive, developing skin.

What does "tearless" actually mean?
Tearless means the formula won't sting or burn if it gets in your puppy's eyes. This is especially important for squirmy puppies who move around during baths. While we still recommend being careful around the face, the tearless formula provides peace of mind and makes bath time less stressful for everyone.

How often should I bathe my puppy?
Generally, about once a month is ideal for most puppies, unless they get especially dirty or smelly. Over-bathing can strip natural oils and dry out developing skin, even with gentle shampoo. Between baths, use our Puppy's First Grooming Wipes for spot cleaning.

At what age can I start using shampoo on my puppy?
You can use this shampoo as soon as your puppy comes home (typically around 8 weeks old). This gentle formula is perfect for that first bath and beyond.

Will this shampoo help with itching or dry skin?
The oat extract, aloe, coconut oil, and shea butter in our formula naturally soothe and moisturize, which can help with minor dryness or itching. However, if your puppy has persistent skin issues, consult your vet as this could indicate allergies, fleas, or other conditions that need medical attention.

Does this shampoo work well with other grooming products?
Yes! This shampoo pairs perfectly with our other puppy products. Use our Puppy's First Grooming Wipes between baths.

Can I use this on adult dogs?
Absolutely. What's gentle enough for puppies works great for adult dogs too, especially those with sensitive skin or eyes.

My puppy hates baths. Will this shampoo help?
Many puppies resist baths because past experiences were uncomfortable (stinging eyes, overwhelming smells). Our formula eliminates those pain points. Combine it with positive reinforcement (treats, praise, calm voice) and warm water, and bath time should improve.
